2D Art Lead

TIC TOC GAMES is looking for a 2D Art Lead to assist the Art Director in maintaining the visual style and quality bar for our games. The role requires you to work with our internal and external resources as a leader, manager and artist. As a manager, you will assist the project AD in making sure the project has the right resources for keeping the schedule, vision and cost in mind. As an artist, you will help the project AD define the full visual art target for our titles while providing illustration feedback and redlines to the art team.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide feedback for your team and support for your project Art Director.
  • Communicate regularly with remote studios and provide redlines/feedback.
  • Help the AD establish clear visual goals for their game, and help them adhere to those goals. 
  • Advise and create mockups for art teams to create appealing, innovative, and crisp  game assets.
  • Help producers with art resourcing–figure out a team’s personnel needs and work to fill those needs.
  • Ensure that the workflow between art teams and tech art/programming is optimized so all art is accurately and consistently represented in the game.
  • Provide feedback to Tech Artists when artwork (such as UI) is implemented into the build, to ensure we maintain the intended quality and vision of 2D screen mockups.
  • Assist with creation of audience engaging pop-ups, buttons, icons, widgets, and other UI elements which display consistently on a spectrum of device aspect ratios.
  • Help create, and follow, established guidelines for exporting and naming conventions.

Requirements:

  • Strong passion for games, including free to play. 
  • Foundational drawing, graphic design, and animation skills.
  • Strong Draftsmanship/character posing and the ability to iterate quickly on your work.
  • Familiarity with storyboarding, animatics, and animation.
  • Ability to render artwork in a variety of styles using documentation and existing assets.
  • Creative and out-of-the-box thinking during concepting phases and iteration.
  • Strong sense of color, form, directional lighting, shading, and overall good environmental painting.
  • Strong understanding of perspective and three dimensional objects and space, to create mockups for 3D pipelines.
  • 5+ years practical art dept. experience working in interactive media, film, or graphic design.
  • Works well in a team environment and communicates effectively with all development disciplines: programming, art, design, and production.
  • Expert knowledge of Photoshop w/ strong painting and rendering skills.
  • Looking forward to working and learning agile development.
