3D Art Lead
TIC TOC GAMES is looking for a 3D Art Lead to manage a team of 10+ artists including Modelers, Riggers, Animators, and Tech Artists. You will be responsible for assigning tasks, reviewing deliveries, and maintaining style and quality consistency across all 3D assets including character creator, environment, and animations.
This role requires you to work with our internal and external resources as a leader, manager and artist. As a leader you will provide motivation and support for the artists you work with. As a manager you will make sure you are keeping your team on schedule and that all artists on your team have the resources to be successful in their role. As an artist, you will help maintain the 3D art target for our title while providing feedback and redlines to the art team.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the 3D Team is consistent in following art style, quality, and technical guidelines as established by the Art Director.
- Work closely with Production to create and manage tasks for all 10+ members of the 3D team, including: Modeling, Rigging, 3D animation, and Tech Art.
- Review all submitted artwork from the 3D team and provide in depth written and redline feedback to our internal and external resources.
- Review proposed 2D Concepts and ensure they will work within established 3D pipelines such as the Character Creator Rig and the modular 3D Environment pipeline.
- Equip Producers with solid task estimates to ensure schedules and plans meet business and project needs.
- Manage and expand our freelance talent pool to scale the efforts of our in-house team.
- Ensure all assets going into the game are optimized and efficient for mobile devices.
- Ensure all assets adhere to established naming conventions and folder structure.
- Refine art production pipeline continuously so we are both effective and efficient.
- Research, speak to, and reference work from competitive game titles to ensure we are visually competitive and leading the way in the industry.
Requirements:
- 2+ years practical art/design experience working in interactive media or 4+ years of education in interactive media or 3D animation.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, naming conventions and file structure.
- Strong knowledge of Industry-standard 3D Software (Maya, 3DS MAX, Blender).
- Expert knowledge of modeling, rigging processes, and animation principles.
- Basic knowledge in project management tools, including but not limited to: JIRA, GreenHopper, Confluence, Excel, Microsoft Project, etc.
- Is capable of tracking/documenting team processes for studio knowledge and growth.
- Experience managing a team of 10+ art resources, being able to switch tracks daily as needed keeping everything moving smoothly.
- You love video games, and you play video games in your spare time.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience crafting video game art or equivalent.
- You can improvise, adapt and overcome challenges with a positive attitude.
- Thrives in a collaborative work culture.

- Basic knowledge in SCRUM or Agile development methodologies
